Como encontrar tu trabajo ideal. Parte III
¡Hola de nuevo! ¿Qué tal?
Llegamos al final de la serie dedicada a la búsqueda de empleo. En los dos artículos anteriores hemos hablado de los pasos previos y de la estrategia a seguir, así que en este último vamos a tratar el paso final, el cuerpo a cuerpo con tu trabajo ideal.

3, 2, 1, ¡Contacto!
Ya tienes tu trabajo ideal definido y lo has concretado en empresas y puestos. Sabes cuál es tu valor y eres capaz de orientarlo a cada uno de esos puestos. Has puesto tu foco más en dar y menos en recibir.
Es el momento de iniciar el contacto.
Para establecer contacto con las empresas que has seleccionado no es necesario que tengan una oferta de empleo activa. Es un factor que puede facilitar un primer acercamiento, ya que la empresa estará más receptiva a ello, pero cualquier momento es bueno para ofrecer un beneficio a tu futuro empleador.
Si has sido capaz de orientar tus servicios profesionales como un beneficio claro para la empresa, esta siempre será receptiva como mínimo a escuchar lo que tengas que decir.
Por eso en toda la negociación, y, sobre todo, en las primeras comunicaciones es importante que evites referencias a términos como: «Puestos vacantes», «encajar en la empresa», «por si fuera de su interés» y demás expresiones que indican que estás reaccionando a una situación dada en vez de tomar la iniciativa (¿recuerdas lo que comentamos de reactividad y proactividad?).
Esta es una práctica muy común que hace que la empresa ignore al candidato rápidamente si no tiene una necesidad clara y apremiante de ampliar su equipo. En realidad, tiene lógica pues nosotros mismos estamos condicionando a la empresa al decirle «Si tiene puestos vacantes…».
La orientación adecuada
Sí, ¡es por aquí!
En vez de eso, debes orientar la comunicación a los beneficios que va a obtener la empresa en cualquier circunstancia, ya que tus servicios siempre serán beneficiosos para tu empleador, independientemente de si tiene una oferta de trabajo activa en estos momentos o no.
El valor que tú ofreces no depende de las circunstancias de la empresa, sino que siempre es válido y está vigente.
Evidentemente, eso no quiere decir que no pueda ser aún mayor si se dan ciertas eventualidades, pero no depende en exclusiva de ellas.
Este planteamiento es fundamental para los contactos iniciales con nuestros futuros empleadores.
Las personas
Para iniciar este primer contacto y que genere cierto impacto en la empresa objetivo, te recomiendo basarte en la premisa de que vas a tratar con personas.
Esto es bastante obvio, pero tendemos a ignorarlo cuando tratamos con empresas, entidades, administraciones o cualquier otro tipo de persona jurídica. Tenemos la impresión de que estas tienen vida propia, aunque la realidad es que en último término tu comunicación la va a leer una persona
Esa persona, aunque profesionalmente represente a una empresa sigue teniendo sus anhelos, miedos y sueños. Es capaz de empatizar con tu mensaje, puede quizás sentirse identificado contigo e incluso puede que hasta consigas caerle bien.
Por eso debes centrarte en comunicarte con personas y no con empresas.
Y… ¿cómo puedes hacer eso? Teniendo en cuenta los siguientes puntos.
Establece contacto personal
Tampoco es necesario llegar a tanto 🙂
Averigua el nombre de la persona con la que quieres contactar y entabla un contacto personal. Si puedes, usa las redes sociales siempre que los perfiles tengan carácter profesional. Linkedin es la opción más obvia por la que empezar.
Si eso no es posible, averigua algún otro método de contacto profesional de la persona con la que quieres tratar.
Evita a toda costa enviar correos electrónicos a direcciones generales (tipo info@empresa.com) y mucho menos escribir en ellos el clásico «A la atención del Director de Recursos Humanos». Eso no solo denota que te has informado poco sobre la empresa, sino que además estás pidiendo a la persona que lea ese correo que haga el trabajo que deberías haber hecho tú.
Estos correos tienen todos los números para acabar en la papelera, la mayoría de ellos sin ni siquiera ser leídos en su totalidad.
Enfatiza tus cualidades humanas
Para poder conectar con la otra persona, debes enfocarte en tus valores como persona.
Evidentemente, estamos hablando de una futura relación laboral, por lo que las primeras palabras de tu mensaje deben ir destinadas a tu presentación profesional. Pero se breve, conciso y no le des mayor importancia.
Tu empleador ya tiene muchos otros candidatos —con una licenciatura, con el máster de moda, con n años de experiencia— que, además son serios, trabajadores y responsables.
Tú eres todo eso, pero ahí no reside tu valor sino en aquello que tú puedes ofrecer y los demás no. Tu valor reside en cómo haces las cosas, en tu actitud frente a las adversidades, en tu compromiso con los proyectos, en tu capacidad para hacer mejores a tus compañeros, en…
¿Captas la idea? 🙂
Tus logros
¡Bravo!
El siguiente paso, después de haberte presentado y de haber captado la atención de tu empleador con tus capacidades personales, es demostrar como esas capacidades te han ayudado a alcanzar logros profesionales en el pasado.
Menciona los proyectos pasados en los que has participado, qué objetivos conseguiste con ellos, y sobre todo cómo se podría aplicar todo a la empresa con la que estás contactando y por qué sería beneficioso para ella.
No te preocupes si estás buscando tu primer trabajo o tienes poca experiencia. Los proyectos profesionales que has llevado a cabo de forma personal, sirven perfectamente para mostrar tus logros. Es más, suelen ser muy bien valorados porque se realizan de forma voluntaria lo que les otorga un extra de dedicación, interés y ganas.
A la hora de describir tus logros profesionales, es importante que pongas el foco en dar según comentamos en los artículos anteriores. Esto se consigue mostrando como tus logros pasados pueden beneficiar a tu futuro empleador, en vez de usarlos para exhibir lo que tú eres capaz de hacer.
Orienta tus acciones a aportar valor y las empresas se cuidarán de conservarte como empleado. Orienta tus acciones a tu beneficio y no al de la empresa, y estas tratarán de perderte de vista lo más rápido posible.
Bonus: Ve más allá de la profesionalidad
Nuestros hábitos de consumo de productos y sobre todo de servicios han cambiado en los últimos años. El precio ya no es el factor principal para escoger un producto o servicio frente a otro. Ahora damos mucho peso al servicio tanto preventa como postventa, e incluso a los valores y filosofía de las empresas que fabrican los productos o proporcionan los servicios.
En las relaciones laborales ocurre algo similar.
Las empresas ya no valoran como factor principal las titulaciones, la experiencia laboral o la profesionalidad. Estas capacidades se dan por supuestas.
Las empresas, cada vez más, contratan personal por los valores humanos.
Por eso, menospreciar los valores humanos a la hora de buscar empleo es un error. Los títulos o la experiencia pueden ser adquiridos con esfuerzo y tiempo, pero la actitud, la capacidad de hacer equipo o el saber motivar a otros, son capacidades muy valoradas que no figuran en las carreras ni en los masters.
Sin embargo, se trata de capacidades que se pueden entrenar y mejorar como cualquier otra capacidad. Busca como puedes mejorar estas y otras habilidades personales que podrían hacerte mejor profesional.
Sin ir más lejos, uno de mis objetivos con este blog es que la lectura de sus artículos te ayude en la mejora de estas capacidades. Espero que me esté acercando a ello 🙂
